I was fortunate enough to be able to observe Matias and his crew at work earlier this summer, when they painted the house next door to mine. They did a great job on that house, so when I was finally ready to have my house painted (after doing a test run myself with the area facing the porch), I contacted Matias. It was already September, so I thought I might have to wait for other projects to be completed (which is often what happens when you leave things until the last minute). To my surprise, they started the pressure washing and prep work within a couple of days after I accepted the estimate. As part of the prep work, the crew also cleaned up my yard. I do cut my grass, but they were able to go beyond what I usually do. Although Matias explained that this was necessary, it was still a nice surprise. (At my request, they also removed the satellite TV dish that came with the house, but that I have never used.) From the start, Matias and his crew were easy to work with. Since I opted to buy the paint myself, Matias advised me on where to go to get the best paint for the job at the lowest cost; otherwise, I would have spent considerably more than I needed to, and bought paint that was decent, but not necessarily as good as it needed to be. On a day to day basis, although I made sure to be available in case questions came up, I was able to leave the crew alone and let them work. And they were dedicated, on more than one occasion putting in 11-hour days to finish whatever they were working on that day. The only snag that came up was when it became clear that some of the siding on the back of the house would have to be replaced because of age or rot. This was something I already knew might be necessary at the time I bought the house, so it was not a surprise. Obviously, this increased the overall cost of the project, but the extra amount was very reasonable (particularly given that the type of siding is harder to find), and much less than I had expected. I’m very happy with the quality of the work done. In fact, they did a couple of things I hadn’t even thought to ask about: painting the eaves, and adding the trim color to the outer edge and at the bottom of the deck and front step. Also, Matias’s color suggestions for the deck and deck railing turned out to be the right ones. The result is that my house now looks much better than it did when I bought it.
